Welcome to St. Francis Wood

A quiet and exclusive neighborhood featuring solely residential development and sporting larger more sophisticated style homes surrounded by lush lawns, manicured gardens, and plenty of space to roam.

While this area wholeheartedly supports the quiet life, a short walk north towards West Portal Avenue will reveal a bounty of restaurants, shops, and nightlife to break the silence.

Being one of San Francisco’s eight master-planned residence parks means that St. Francis Wood was meticulously designed to give residents the feeling of suburban living while having the chance to be located near the city’s downtown attractions. Even so, this neighborhood was designed to impress: regardless of where it may be located.

The Neighbors

Affluent professionals and families taking advantage of great schools, outdoor recreation activities, and quick commutes to work.

Since St. Francis Wood is quite small and its families typically converge upon a few stellar schools and parks, the community has naturally grown to flourish in its tight-knit environment. Moreover, this community includes almost entirely owned residences, with a mere 8% being rentals. You will also find that residents here share an appreciation for the amazing aesthetic that has been actively preserved here, seen through the area’s many manicured gardens and complementing architecture.

What to Expect

A masterfully planned and successfully executed neighborhood designed to achieve architectural harmony.

The origin of this neighborhood comes from a movement called “City Beautiful,” first conceived by architecture from the World’s Columbian exposition of 1893 in Chicago. Brought to San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake by architect Daniel Burnham, the plans for St. Francisc Wood mark the first instance in which the “City Beautiful” concept was successfully applied to a residential development, preceded by the construction of the Civic Center complex in 1912. In short, you can expect to be thoroughly impressed by what this neighborhood has accomplished.

The Lifestyle

Sophisticated energy with effortless access to downtown.

With shopping, schools, downtown and the airport all being within either a fifteen-minute drive or walk away, moving into a St. Francis Wood home means that you are providing yourself with easy access to all the necessities and pleasures of San Francisco while avoiding the noise that comes with fully immersing yourself in the heart of the city.

Unexpected Appeal

An absence of above-ground utilities and visible businesses gives the spotlight to the homes in St. Francis Wood.

Without power lines and commercial businesses breaking through the ambiance of the trees and gardens, residents here enjoy a unique and uninterrupted viewing experience of this beautifully crafted neighborhood.

The Market

An exclusive market with limited demand and rising value.

Having just over 600 homes, St. Francis Wood sees just under twenty home-sales per year while the average residency lasts 25 years. In regards to price, you will find that most homes on the market here in 2020 were going for around $3M with some predictions showing price increases of 8% in the next year.

Neighborhood owned parks and green spaces maintained for private use by residents.

The St. Francis Homes Association owns and cares for the beautiful parks and open spaces that are enjoyed by its residents. You’ll find tennis courts, basketball, children’s playgrounds and multiple lawns to let your pets run wild.
